Vincent Willem Van Gogh was a 19th century post-Impressionist era Dutch painter. His innovative artwork used vivid colors and expressions bearing high emotional quality. Van Gogh’s prolific art had a powerful influence on modern art, especially 20th century painting styles using abstraction, fauvism, and expressionism. In his brief career, Van Gogh produced more than 2,000 artworks consisting 1,100 sketches and drawings and 900 paintings but managed to sell only one. His fame came only after his demise. All is pure

White Fields

I
In the winter time we go
Walking in the fields of snow;

Where there is no grass at all;
Where the top of every wall,

Every fence, and every tree,
Is as white as white can be.

II

Pointing out the way we came,
-Every one of them the same-

All across the fields there be
Prints in silver filigree;

And our mothers always know,
By the footprints in the snow,

Where it is the children go.
