Vincent Willem Van Gogh was a 19th century post-Impressionist era Dutch painter. His innovative artwork used vivid colors and expressions bearing high emotional quality. Van Gogh’s prolific art had a powerful influence on modern art, especially 20th century painting styles using abstraction, fauvism, and expressionism. In his brief career, Van Gogh produced more than 2,000 artworks consisting 1,100 sketches and drawings and 900 paintings but managed to sell only one. His fame came only after his demise.
